Burning Tammy
Browbeaten 9 year old Tammy Vamvoukakis lives in Marrickville, eats Mars Bars, is in love with Lionel Ritchie and wants to be just like her gently provocative next-door neighbour, Soulla. Life is good! - Or it would be if it wasn't for Tammy's domineering, big-dreaming mother, Ma. Ma's crushing love for her daughter and all things ethnic threatens to rain homous and tabouli on Tammy's parade. After a bizarre family tragedy, Tammy seeks refuge from Ma in her gay neighbours, Stuart and Troy, and in Father Papas, the local Greek priest, who is terrified of women and horses. Tammy soon realises there is no real escaping Ma - or is there?
