What do we collect?

The ASC collects professionally written, production-ready performance scripts for stage and radio across a range of styles and genres. We only accept work that is written by Australian writers and encourage writers at all stages of their career to submit their unpublished plays to us, provided that the work meets one of the following criteria:

• the play has received a professional production or workshop (or a school or youth theatre production if that is more appropriate for the script); or,
• the play has been recommended to us by a script development agency or established theatre company; or,
• the play is written by an established playwright

How to submit a script

The ASC has an open script submission policy, however all scripts must be submitted with a signed and completed submission form.

Cost: $33 (incl. gst) per script, or FREE SUBMISSION if the play has won a major Australian playwriting award (eg. the Griffin Award, Patrick White Playwrights' Award, an AWGie etc.).

It is completely at the Centre's discretion whether or not to accept a script into the collection. The ASC does not accept all scripts submitted, and in particular any that do not meet a professional standard will be rejected. This includes scripts that are not properly proofread and checked for spelling and other mistakes. Scripts must be clearly formatted. Important Note

We do not accept scripts without signed permission from all copyright holders. Your script must not include material that you do not have permission to use, nor should it have been been previously published as part of an exclusive arrangement. If your script has been published but is now out of print, please provide us with a letter from your publisher confirming that the rights have reverted to you.

SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT NOW

Return the signed script submission form to the ASC, along with 1 hardcopy and 1 electronic copy of your script. The script submission fee can be paid by cheque or credit card, and it will be refunded if your script is not accepted.
